Harry Kanters is een virtuoze pianist in de diverse stijlen van de traditionele Jazz. Zijn specialisme omvat Ragtime, New Orleans, Stride, Swing en vroege Bebop. Mede door zijn omvangrijke repertoire is Harry een populair pianist bij ‘All Star’ bezettingen en een veelgevraagd gastsolist bij uiteenlopende bands.
In 2016 vierde Harry zijn 40-jarig jubileum met een uitverkocht concert tijdens het Breda Jazz Festival. De fulltime pianist is overigens soms ook te horen op een van zijn koperblaasinstrumenten. Tevens is hij arrangeur, o.a. bij de vele CD-opnamen in de afgelopen jaren.
Tegenwoordig is Harry zeer actief is als professioneel freelance pianist. In het verleden heeft hij deel uitgemaakt van succesvolle Jazzbands, zoals de ‘Jojo Swingband’, ‘SwingCats’ en ‘Three-O’ Joop Hendriks’. Ook is hij leider geweest van ‘Reeds & Rhythm’ en van het trio ‘De KaKa’s’ waar hij met zijn broer Peter in het Nederlandse zong. Momenteel is hij lid van ‘How About Rita?’ en van de Belgische ‘New Orleans Night Owls’. Daarnaast organiseert Harry optredens met internationale gasten of rondom speciale thema’s, zoals de ‘Basie, Bean & Fats Project’ en de ‘Tribute to the Nat King Cole Trio’.
Harry heeft meegewerkt aan tientallen platen en CD’s. De laatste jaren heeft hij daarin ook vaak een initiërende rol.
Harry Kanters is a virtuoso pianist in the various styles of the traditional Jazz. His specialty includes Ragtime, New Orleans, Stride, Swing and early Bebop. With his extensive repertoire, Harry is a popular pianist with ‘All Star’ line-ups en a much sought after guest-soloist with various bands.
In 2016 Harry celebrated his 40th anniversary with a sold-out concert during the Breda Jazz Festival. Besides, this fulltime pianist can sometimes be heard on one of his brass horns. Moreover, Harry is a music-arranger, i.a. for the many CD-albums during the recent years.
Currently Harry is very active as professional freelance piano player. In the past he was part of successful Jazz bands such as the ‘Jojo Swingband’, ‘SwingCats’ and ‘Three-O’ Joop Hendriks’. He was also the leader of ‘Reeds & Rhythm’ and the ‘KaKa’s’ where Harry together with his brother Peter sang self-written Dutch lyrics on well-known standards. Nowadays he is member of ‘How About Rita?’ and the Belgium ‘New Orleans Night Owls’. In addition Harry organizes concerts with international guests and around special theme’s such as ‘Basie, Bean & Fats Project’ and ‘Tribute to the Nat King Cole Trio’.
Harry has contributed to dozens of records and albums. In the recent years he often has an initiating role.
